Charting The Path Forward
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Welcome to 2024! Although it’s been a few weeks at Health Outreach Partners, it already feels like the year has kicked off into high gear. Cindy Selmi (Executive Director) and I spent three productive days in Washington, DC for a long overdue, in-person reunion with our National Training and Technical Assistance Partners (NTTAPs) and Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) colleagues. We discussed the direction of our individual and collaborative work, heard about the important role NTTAPs play as a feedback loop between the Health Center Program and BPHC, and reinforced that we are stronger together.
In late February, HOP staff will attend the Western Forum for Migrant and Community Health in Seattle, WA, and facilitate a workshop titled " Resiliency and Recovery for “Community Health Workers” with our partners Farmworker Justice and MHP Salud. The focus is to provide Community Health Workers with a framework on how to address COVID-related mental health and trauma within the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker (MSAW) community. We will also be there to conduct listening sessions on the effects of climate change on MSAW health and wellbeing in order to provide future resources, in partnership with MHP Salud. We’d love to see you there!
On the home front, we kicked off 2024 with the first session of “Nurturing a Culture of Self Care: Strategies for Enhancing Organizational Wellness Learning Collaborative" to create a culture of self-care in the workplace. We are also excited to announce our upcoming Learning Collaborative, “Transportation & Access to Care: Implementing a Quality Improvement Toolkit for Health Centers" to support health centers implement a quality improvement process to reduce missed medical appointments caused by transportation barriers. See more details below.
In the meantime, we welcome your questions, insights, and opportunities to collaborate. Please get in touch with me at smruti@outreach-partners.org.
My best,
Smruti Shah
